Health Consulting for Chronic Conditions
What is a Health Consultation?
In a traditional consultation your doctor asks you questions and examines you, makes a diagnosis and prescribes treatment. A Health Consultation shifts the focus back to you and not the diagnosis. My Health Consultation will help you to make sense of why you have the diagnosis or why you are sick (if you don't have a label). My Health Consultations will help you to create a map of your condition so that you can understand the key drivers of your health. Once you understand this, you are in a better place to understand how to turn your health around. The key word here is 'You'. Change starts with you! Get in touch ese@brightonsportsmedicine.co.uk or check out my educational website doctorese.com. Listen below as I give an explanation of my approach to recovery of health. |
Few doctors have research knowledge outside of their chosen speciality. This means that a whole-person approach to health can be difficult to achieve. Before training as a consultant in Sports Medicine, I regularly authored a number of medical texts include 'Hot Topics in General Practice' which at the time, was a BMJ top 10 bestseller. Researching these books required me to read hundreds of research papers dealing with a broad span of health topics, thus leaving me with a wide ranging knowledge of health. Choose a Health Consultation. I can help you to understand why you are sick and the options you have to help you to improve.

Your health reflects the environment you inhabit both internally and externally
You may have a diagnosis but why did you get sick? Is it just bad luck? Genetics? Diet? Environmental toxins? Stress? A Health Consult will help you to understand the answer to these questions
I am especially interested in how your environment affects your performance and wellbeing. I have found that musculoskeletal conditions (including joint pains, fatigue and arthritis) that do not respond to conventional treatment are often linked to poor gut health and persistent levels of environmental toxins. Injury to the gut internal environment, together with toxin load, taxes the inflammatory and immune mechanisms in the body. The body copes for a while (using up valuable resources such as vitamins and anti-oxidants) until the inflammatory challenge becomes too great. That's when symptoms happen! Dis-ease and dis-orders, including chronic musculoskeletal conditions, are symptoms of the silent inflammatory war which the body may have been fighting for many years.
More and more people want to understand their health and take control of their health journey. Understanding your health means understanding the influences on your whole system. Taking an whole-person approach including looking at the gut, the immune system and environmental toxin levels (as well as looking at more standard tests) often tells a story that allows a more comprehensive plan for return to wellbeing

Toxins
Today's health check should involve an analysis of environmental toxins. I find that moulds, chemicals and heavy metals are the silent offenders and are linked to many chronic diseases. Reaching optimum health is about understanding these 'influencers' in your environment. Dr Ese can help you formulate a Whole-Person Plan to return your Well-th! |
